Your home insurance personal property coverage will either cover your items at actual cash value (ACV) or replacement cost value (RCV), depending on what your insurer offers. Abu Rudeineh labeled the aid package a "dangerous escalation" and an act of aggression against the Palestinian people. He said the support gives Israel the green light to broaden its war across the region, and undermines the prospects for regional and global stability. The health ministry and Palestinian news agency Wafa, meanwhile, have said at least one child and one teen are among those killed, and that the IDF has arrested young people en masse and destroyed key infrastructure. Over the next several weeks, nighttime closures will occur Sunday – Thursday between 9 p.m. Many tollhouses were built by turnpike trusts in England, Wales and Scotland during the 18th and early 19th centuries. These were sold off in the 1880s when the turnpikes were closed. Many were demolished but several hundred have survived for residential or other use, with distinctive features of the old tollhouses still visible. Transfer it to an airtight container and freeze it for up to 2 months. To keep your cookie bars soft after baking them, store them in an airtight container.

With her husband, Wakefield started Toll House Inn in Whitman, Massachusetts, in 1930, in the heat of the Great Depression. Despite such risky timing, the restaurant was a success especially among travelers, thanks to its location between Boston and Cape Cod. She sold the rights to her recipe to Nestlé for only $1.00! Little did she know that this would become the most popular cookie ever. Used French butter and added 4 oz broken-up high-quality dark chocolate. Sustainably sourcing ingredients is also key to a great tasting cookie.

There is much to love about these Toll House chocolate chip cookie bars. Mrs. Wakefield's obituary in the NYT says she chilled the dough overnight. Also, why omit (or include) the teaspoon of hot water? We all strive for the perfect chocolate chip cookie, usually the cookie we remember from childhood.

Instead, just press it into a cake pan and bake. More likely, it seems that Wakefield — a trained culinary professional who was known for her delicious desserts — developed the recipe on purpose. In fact, Wyman found a 1970s article in which Wakefield told a reporter that she came up with the recipe on a flight home from Egypt.

The package also includes $9.5 billion in supplemental funding that will go towards humanitarian aid for civilians in conflict zones, including those in Gaza and Ukraine. Medical workers told the Gaza health ministry they buried bodies in a mass grave at the hospital in mid-November, Bloomberg reported. On Thursday, officials from the Palestinian Civil Defense increased that number to 392 during a press conference.

That is why all chocolate in Nestlé Toll House products is responsibly sourced through the Nestlé Cocoa Plan and all cookie dough products are now made with 100% cage-free eggs. Calculate tolls and gas costs with E-ZPass, I-Pass & toll-by-plate across major US turnpikes like PA Turnpike, Ohio Turnpike and more. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thanked the US House of Representatives for passing a package that includes aid to Israel. In pictures shared by the organization, the ambulance crew is seen siting inside an IDF vehicle, surrounded by soldiers.

Some chocolate jumble recipes called for up to 2 cups of chocolate shaved into the dough. Grating that much chocolate on an old-fashioned rasp is frankly, as Parks points out, “a real pain in the butt” and so she suspects some cookie-makers decided to take a shortcut, and just chop up the chocolate bar into small chips instead. Just like that, the chocolate chip cookie was born, in a highly relatable combination of laziness and pragmatism.

Everyone needs a chocolate chip cookie recipe that is tried and true and this one won’t disappoint. It is easy, legendary and tastes delicious. Used 16 oz of chocolate chips, chilled minutes as several recommended, I cooked for 12 minutes. 10 wasn’t enough, at least not with my oven.

Bloomberg looked at satellite imagery over the two hospitals taken at different points in time around when the Israeli military destroyed both hospitals. The UN says more than 34,000 Palestinians have been killed by Israel’s military operations in Gaza following the Oct. 7 attack in Israel by Hamas, designated as a terrorist group by the US and EU. About 1,200 people were killed in the Hamas attack and more than 200 kidnapped. An ambulance driver was killed by Israeli settlers as he tried to transport Palestinians who had been attacked by settlers in the West Bank, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health and an aid organization. The aid package passed by the House still faces a vote in the US Senate before being approved.

Intrinsic motivation stems from the learner themselves (Booth, 2010). Library professionals aren’t expected to exhibit the same level of interest in the chosen topic but should be able to support the enthusiast’s journey. They can also develop innovative programming to engage enthusiasts and non-enthusiast patrons. Some libraries hold feng shui events that detail the history and how patrons can apply it to their spaces. Although feng shui isn’t directly interior design related, it is inadvertently.

Take this with a grain of salt, it might not be the case where you live, and also, keep in mind that folded brim beanies or double brim are usually more expensive (as they should be). Because, read carefully, for the adult version you will have JUST ENOUGH to make one beanie, so you have to pay attention to your tension as well. Now from the bottom, you will start ss all the way up to the top of your beanie, connecting both sides. You should have ended at the bottom of your beanie (the opposite end as the ss). For the rest of the sizes you don’t have to worry about it, you will have plenty of yarn to finish the smaller sizes. The prior knowledge they have about interior design can serve as a connection to the specialized terms they are trying to memorize and understand. I found that the Serious Leisure Frontier Theory fit well with my chosen community. Within the five hobby subgroups Hartel defines, interior design enthusiasts fall in Collectors and Makers/Tinkerers. To celebrate my birthday I made a week’s worth of posts purely about me, ending in the announcement that I had gotten engaged to my boyfriend earlier that year. I expected to hear a few negative comments, but they never came. Instead, many of my followers celebrated with me and shared words of encouragement, and I was surprised to receive support and love even from members of the community who I’d never interacted with before! Like any queer person who’s put themselves out there online, I’ve seen that some think we don’t have a place here. But I never could have imagined the amount of love and fellowship I would feel being a part of the LEGO community.

‘Shut up’ basement scene

Kevin's adventures start and conclude in the attic, beginning as he wakes up home along and ending with his zip-line escape from the Wet Bandits. This zip-line is therefore provided above the dormer window, connecting with the treehouse. Minifigures can either slide smoothly along this zip-line or be secured in one position for display, as demonstrated below. Unfortunately, the master bedroom is less accessible than other spaces.

Kate McCallister accompanies her son and features another famous expression, showing the character's shock upon realising that Kevin is home alone. The smiling face looks splendid too, while the dark orange hair piece corresponds with Kate's onscreen hairstyle. The element was developed for Qi'ra from Han Solo's Landspeeder, but seems equally effective here and this medium nougat attire also appears accurate. With the roof in place, the front is pretty much complete. The seams for the opening walls are all very well hidden, making for a great display piece. From the rear things look a little more solid, as there’s isn’t as much overlap with the other sub-models.

Customer Reviews

Inside the basement is the washing machine, tool box, and a sticker of Marv’s sock stuck to the floor with tar. The completed roof has a swing-up center to allow access to the play space. It’s a bit of a challenge to get my old-man hands into the corners, but the main areas of the bed and desk are easy to access. The attic space is again built on a base of overlapping plate. The interior spaces here are a lot more constricted as most of the horizontal space gets eaten away by the slope of the roof. The exterior walls go together pretty much the same as they did on the first floor.

comments on “Pride & LEGO: LGBTQ+ LEGO fans in their own words [Feature]”

The front of the home is built on hinged panels allowing access to the interior. A line of inset shots along the bottom call out some of the movie moments you can recreate, as well as showcasing that the different floors are modular. The minifigures shown in the main photo complete the cast, with Kevin’s mom arriving at long last. The LEGO Ideas Home Alone set is instantly recognisable, perfectly capturing the grand McCallister family home, and is also packed with features that tell the story of Kevin’s holiday antics. As well as the exterior, the interior layout is true to the movie and includes the ground and first floor, kitchen, basement and attic.

The treehouse appears comparatively simple, but includes attractive colours and lovely detail. Flame yellowish orange and white are employed to wonderful effect across the branches, with reddish brown stems at their centre. Moreover, the integration of reddish brown and tan across the treehouse looks appealing, without disrupting the accurate earthy tones. There is no folding function which is quite disappointing, but I appreciate the contrasting dark red and teal colours. These successfully convey the sofa-bed design, even without any functionality. Some mismatched cushions would have further reflected the movie, but are perhaps unnecessary.

Build the Change

The onscreen machine is significantly smaller than this design, but the enlarged rendition includes brilliant detail. Colourful 1x1 round plates are placed inside the dispenser, while a pearl silver key represents the activation dial. The bed is beautifully constructed, integrating 2x2 corner bows that have only appeared twice before in medium azure. Furthermore, I like the collapsing shelves which include some money, the tarantula's terrarium and the aforementioned firecrackers. Pulling an external pin will cause the shelves to collapse and this function works nicely, although the shelves feel rather fragile.

He focused on keeping things as close to the original plan as possible, while also keeping things to scale. He describes the second floor as the greatest challenge. As the festive season draws in, the LEGO Ideas Home Alone set is designed to provide the ultimate holiday at home together and a unique building experience. Split into an Advent Calendar-like 24 build bags, you can build the iconic house in sequence with the movie, starting with meeting the robbers and their van and ending with Kevin’s reunion with his mum, Kate.

When you visit LEGO House, you get a magical wristband that allows you to save your memories (pictures and videos) from your visit. Please be aware that your memories are only available for download within the first 29 days after your visit (visit date included). If you don’t fall in the above categories, this is a good set, just not great. There’s a personal nod to fan designer Alex Storozhuk, whose nickname is Adwind – immortalised by the Adwind Airlines ticket. Outside the steps to the basement and kitchen are icy steps, which cleverly use opalescent blue tiles to foil Harry and Marv as they come in. Speaking of which, here’s a look at the entrance, which has a lovely arch and pillars above the front door, with the McCallister “M” welcome mat.

This is where the kitchen/basement sub-building will connect much later on. Other interesting pieces include a clear dome/astronaut helmet,  stop-shafts (only the second appearance in white for this new element), and curved corner slopes and windows. Another important recolor is the introduction of masonry bricks in reddish brown.

A turn of the knob drops a brick-built iron onto the unsuspecting, but deserving, Marv minifigure. The kitchen set is compressed a bit, but still contains all they key elements, plus a few. The blowtorch trap by the door is present, as is the TV/VCR combo playing “Angels With Filthy Souls”. There’s also a delivery of Little Nero’s Pizza on the counter.

Even if I've tidied up prior to my guests' arrival and the house is looking pretty organized, those words of apology will still come out of my mouth. It seems to be an involuntary impulse — and my husband thinks it's ridiculous. I don't think I've ever heard him say it, even when the house is genuinely a mess. If you're coming over to my house for a playdate or any other social occasion, I can guarantee that the next words I say to you after "Hello" will be, "I'm so sorry about the mess." “It's fun, it's versatile, and it's sure to keep you entertained for hours on end,” one shopper shared.

LEGO Ideas Home Alone About Us

lego home alone house

The Treehouse is pretty simple, with a skull and crossbones flag hanging. I was really impressed by the use of droid arms for the ladder. The final model is really large with the McCallister house measuring 27cm high, 34cm deep, and 34cm wide.

Lego Sunflowers Building Kit, $13

I affirmed my love of LEGO when in college (a pinnacle moment of my life during which I came out both to friends, family and to myself). I did end up joining a different group after that, partly to take advantage of the LUGBULK program, but I kept my MOCs mostly to myself just because I didn’t want to have to deal with more homophobes. Part of the problem in society here is that homosexuality is still illegal, so both institutionalized and societal homophobia still run unchecked. Unfortunately it’s present in the local AFOL community as well, so over time I’ve just become a more active participant in online forums like Brickset, as well as places like the GAYFOLs group on Facebook. It is nice to have a safe space where I can just post stuff and make comments without having to worry about backlash.

By fans for fans

The large white Technic connector on the kitchen level is part of a play feature we’ll cover in a bit. Kevin’s parent’s bedroom has more fun furniture builds. There’s a four-poster bed, a nightstand with a (stickered) digital alarm clock, and a printed 1×1 popcorn box brick. The lamp is also a fun design, with a 2×2 flower as part of the shade.

New experience Build the Change See more

Marv, as we’ve noted already, has probably the wildest dual-expression head LEGO has ever produced. The “smushed by an iron” look is so iconic, though, that I suspect graphic designer Kirsten Bay Nielsen probably didn’t have too much trouble getting it past management. Harry comes with two hats – his knit cap and a policeman’s cap, a callback to his disguise at the beginning of the film. A full police outfit for him would probably have been overkill, so this is a good nod to those scenes without adding the cost of another outfit for a secondary character. The Wet Bandits, Harry and Marv, are also standout minifigures. Both have new dual-sided torso prints, and unique faces.

There aren’t that many innovative techniques employed here, but I did really like the mechanical functions used to bring some of the booby traps to life. I took about 9 hours building it on and off, and it was a pretty fun and varied build. There are 24 numbered bags in the set, which does suggest an interesting way of building the set – approaching it like an Advent Calendar, building it day by day in December to have it complete on Christmas day.

The Build

This set has a wide range of elements, including some new prints and molds. I think builders will be very fond of the new quarter-circle train tracks, and a new “pet flap” variation of the standard LEGO door. The LEGO Group’s mission is to inspire and develop the builders of tomorrow through the power of play. The LEGO System in Play, with its foundation in LEGO bricks, allows children and fans to build and rebuild anything they can imagine.

LEGO Ideas Home Alone 21330

I have never considered much of a connection between my relationship to LEGO and my experience as an LGBTQ+ person. I was your typical LEGO kid, but as a child I never knew about the broader LEGO fan community. It was a private in-home toy that allowed me to build and experience worlds beyond my reach.

World's No. 1 source for LEGO news, reviews, and fan creations.

If one hasn't seen the original submission, this looks quite nice. But in comparison to the original, the massive changes to the front facade totally ruin the set for me. Now it just looks like an overblown house from the Friends range imho. Wasn't one of the important features of Old Man Marley is big boots snow? I seem to remember that, and yet the minifig is missing any reference to his boots.

Lego Classic Large Creative Brick Box, $34

Moreover, a red scarf and dark bluish grey hat are supplied, based upon Kevin's outdoor clothing when sledding or visiting the nearby shops. Later on, Kevin has mocked up a holiday party to confuse the Wet Bandits. The knob on the exterior turns both the train set and the record player at the same time. The motion is pretty smooth, and the Technic connection means you can hook this up to a motor if you really want a bit of way-too-comical speed.

lego home alone house

The reaction to my video hasn’t angered me or upset me. If anything it has empowered me and allowed me to realise that I do have a voice. My partner always surprises me with amazing gifts and in 2016 she gave me tickets to attend the BrickCan LEGO convention for my birthday.

I know its a Ford, but it would of worked for this scenario with a different front fascia. The Easter eggs are fun, I like the mini figures, but where are the others? This is what they did on 123 Sesame Street, stickers of them instead of figures.

Each floor can also be easily separated, allowing you to access and peek into each room and section of the house from above, just like a modular. In the back of the van is a crate with a pearl gold trophy and tap – loot from the houses that the Wet Bandits have hit. The roof of the van pops open, allowing easy access to place Harry and Marv in the front of the van. The back is quite bare – with that large brown 2 x 8 plate looking quite awkward, giving the trunk a bit of an incomplete look, but I do like the bits of ice hanging.

It still seems amazing that LEGO decided to go with an alternate expression Marv that showcases his post-ironing state. I am really curious if a creative builder somewhere will be able to repurpose this face for anything but a Home Alone parody/tribute. You can, however, see the basketball player rotate by if you shine a light directly at the window. The windows at the rear and side of this room are too obscured by the room’s contents to provide much  of any illumination. The plunger at the top of the stairs can send Kevin and his sled flying out of the house. I captured the moment earlier in the build so you could see it more clearly.

(Though the brown masonry bricks are welcomed.) I enjoy seeing some of those details and new pieces, but overall I'm not sure I like it enough to buy it especially since I own the Simpsons house. The add-on slots into the back of the main house build. The controls for the play feature required the big gap in the rear wall, as well as providing a visual join between the kitchen and dining areas. This Ideas set was designed and submitted by fan Alex Storozhuk. Obviously a big fan of the Home Alone movie, Alex used an online blueprint for the McCallister’s house, as well as the film itself, to build the initial model in LEGO Digital Designer and Studio 2.0.

The van, coupled with the great Harry and Marv minifigures, would have probably done well as a small set on their own. Although the set’s primary focus is on the McCallister home, the addition of the van helps fill out the movie world in a welcome way. The instructions are packaged in their own bag, along with the two sticker sheets. There’s no cardboard backer or other reinforcing material, but it appears to be packed into the sub-box before the part bags, so it’s pretty well braced against the sides.

Home Alone is best as a family movie, and similarly, this set is best appreciated by kids and children, who will appreciate the numerous play opportunities, rooms, and furniture. In going too large (too squeeze as much in), the LEGO McCallister House creates an awkward conundrum – integrating it into your LEGO displays. Its comically large dimensions, especially when placed alongside Winter Village or even Modulars necessitates that you display it as a standalone model, to truly allow it to shine. In the living room as well, there’s a portrait of Megan, Linnie and Jeff – Kevin’s siblings.

Some of the things this program is able to include 3D modeling, editing, and rendering. The purpose of landscape design software can vary depending on the user. Similarly, for a homeowner, a landscape design software gives you the opportunity to fully consider all of your design options and allows you to maximize your space. Popular among professional designers, Trimble SketchUp is a feature-filled 3D rendering software. Since it’s made with designers in mind, this software can create pretty much any features users call to mind with tools to visualize, model, and render an idea into a detailed plan. There may be a learning curve for some users, but for those who want to undertake creative landscaping plans, the flexibility of this program is well worth it.

First of all, this freebie works with both MAC and Windows OS, which is great news for most designers out there. However, the good things don’t end here as this app produces high-quality, professional standard image rendering, so you can create the most life-like designs. Furthermore, you can import images as well as geo-satellite photos, and work on them to create bonafide landscapes.

But, there are a handful of clunky interface choices that mar an otherwise solid experience. Easing the burden on beginners, the software comes with a number of wizards. This includes one for quickly creating decks, potentially saving you a lot of time. The easy-to-follow interface offers a fluid experience, making it one of the best landscape design software suites. Visualize your backyard, garden, and patio in both 2D and 3D, all with the convenience of drag-and-drop technology.

This is a really easy-to-use design tool for homeowners that want a realistic view of what their landscaping efforts are going to create. In your search for the best landscape design app, money might be a factor. I don’t like paying for something upfront if I can try it out for free at first. Even better is when I can use an application or software without ever spending a penny, no matter how many times I use it. What’s really neat is that the application allows you to search for plants according to your climate zone.

Therefore, this is an excellent web-based platform you should try out to get things in place. It’s compatible with both Android and iPhone tablets and smartphones. You can make payments through the software and communicate with your contractor in real-time. It can help you design the outdoor look of your dreams using the software and apps we’re about to discuss. The apps cost $9.99 to download, with additional in-app purchases available.

The fact that it’s free, does not diminish its utility, and as such, we recommend it to both professionals and beginners. Designer Buddy is a free option that will not disappoint you, regardless of the outdoor environment you’re trying to create. That said, you don’t need a CAD background to design your layout on this platform. It’s simple enough and, as such, is a great assistant for your artistic ventures. There’s very little to not like about this software; however, we couldn’t help but notice this one flaw.

That aside, it’s still a dependable app in the long run and worth the up-front investment. So, if you want to explore some paid options, Terragen might be the perfect fit for you. There’s no sugarcoating here, but it’s a steep learning curve with the Home Designer Software. Therefore, we recommend using it only if you have mastered a range of designing skills and know your job inside out. This is a pretty basic app, and we recommend it to the uninitiated in the design field.
